Antiques @ the Fairground Petoskey this weekend 7/3 & 4

Many of you who know me know that I love color. I wear color, I design with color and I dream in color. I grew up in norther Michigan in Boyne City near Petoskey & I loved the summer shops in the Gaslight district. Lilly Pulitzer was one of the shops that I loved, her use of color is legendary and inspiring to me.
Dan & I are on our way up north this weekend to to the Antiques at the Fairground Antique Show in Petoskey over looking Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan. A beautiful spot and a beautiful antique show. As we prepare, and it's summer after all, I find myself draw to taking all things colorful!

Like these fanciful fish painted on old pickets from a fence.
We have furniture in great summer colors of coral pink, sea glass blues, greens, turquoise and of course the ever summer fresh white.

Those of you who know me also know my love of anything Amy Butler! I purchased this amazing AB fabric last week and I also hope to get this skirt made to wear this weekend. Stay tuned!
Everyone have a safe a wonderful 4th of July.
Blessings to all veterans, fallen veterans, wounded veterans and their families. We are forever grateful.

Allegan Antiques Market this Sunday & More!

As I write this Dan is on his way to park the treasure trailer in our spot at the Allegan Antiques Market. The market opens Sunday morning @ 7:30 am. We hope to see you all there rain or shine. Come join us under our tent for bargains and "great stuff". I have brownies in the oven now to take along and SHARE! Oh it smells good in here :>
We had a great this past week, I'll take you on the journey in reverse!

We took another trailer load of great furniture that Dan builds out of recycled materials to Petoskey to Then & Now. It is busy in Petoskey this time of year and they seem to be loving Dans furniture. We feel so blessed. Tracy who owns the store has been so good to us and seems to be our newest cheerleader. They always greet us with such enthusiasm, and treats for Scout! We had dinner that day with my parents, Dad made his famous chicken for us - what a treat and respite before getting back on the road for the 3+ hour drive home.

This pretty lady was a "great find" this week. She is currently on ETSY along with lots of other great finds from the week. Our Esty site is catching on and we had a good week of sales there.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

In May for Mothers Day I wrote about my great Mom and mentioned some about my Dad too. I cannot talk about one without the other. My Dad & I have always had a really special relationship & I would say that about my Mom too. Dad has always had a creative streak that is tightly tied to logic - he's an engineer, carpenter, woodsman, beekeeper, wine maker, fly fisherman, gentle loving soul. The photo of the two of us was take at my going away party a couple of days before I move to Grand Rapids to start art school. I was excited and nervous, I will never forget Dad saying that if it didn't work out I could always come home. It was the safety net  that I needed to go forward with my life. My parents taught me that I could do anything that I wanted as long as I was willing to work for it, and boy did I. What a wonderful ride this career has been for me. So thanks Dan( & Mom) for always being there for me, encouraging me and loving me.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY!  I LOVE YOU

Silverhills, Nest, and other asundry news

Yesterday CJ spent the day up in Pentwater, Michigan were we have a space at Silver Hills Antique mall right on main street of this wonderful little resort town on Lake Michigan. She did a work shift at the mall. She also added new items to our space and got to do one of the windows at the front of the store with our product.

I also recently had an opportunity to build some display fixtures for a store called Nest. They are located at 145 Diamond SE here in Grand Rapids and across from us at Bluedoor. They wanted something that had a vintage architectural feel like many of the repurposed pieces of furniture that I build. They furnished me with a sketch and dimensions and then gave me license to use what I had to build their display pieces. This was a fun project for me at a scale a bit larger than I am used to working in. They have also been very kind to give me a great credit in there most recent emailing they did to all their clients. So if you have a chance stop in and take a look at my work but also support a wonderful local business that has great home decor items for sale.

We also moved this past week at Eastown Antique Mall. The mall has recently added a a new finished lower level with new dealers. So we decided to move our space to a new larger area with better exposure. We are very pleased with this move and encourage you to stop by, see our new space and check out the new area of the mall. We are now in the front of the large back room just to the right as you come in the back door. We are hoping over the next few months to do more vintage architectural items.
