We had a good day in Allegan this past Sunday. Almost every time we go we get cleaned out of vintage garden. People found us back who have previously shopped from us. The growing connection we have with customers and other dealers is just plain fun.

Next weekend is the 4th of July. We will be doing an antique show at the fair grounds in Petosky and celebrating the fourth with CJ' parent's in Boyne City. Come and see us if you are in the area. There is much to love about northern Michigan this time of year.

We have just agreed with Joel at Bluedoor to expand our space to half of the back room just off the parking lot. We are very excited about this. We are both doing more created pieces out of our various vintage parts that we love to save and collect and we see Bluedoor as the perfect place to showcase our new creations. More on this later.

Allegan Antiques Market this Sunday June 28

We are getting ready for the Allegan Antiques Market this Sunday June 28 and I wanted to share with you some of our new product finds and a few of my new creations. We have lots of game pieces, old typewriter keys, ephemera, antique button jewelry, findings, old keys, vintage garden items, vintage fabrics, unusual pieces of furniture and architectural items. So please stop by and say hello!
We also are gearing up for the next show on July 4 and 5 in Petoskey ( my old stomping grounds) at the new Fairgrounds. That always is a great show too.
See ya!

The Back Yard

I ran across this poem recently and identified with it as my gardening style. I love to watch things GROW and hate to tame them by cutting them back. It is a relaxed style that I fear is not being admired by prospective house buyers. I may need to conform more and that pains me....

I have a garden of my own

But so with roses overgrown

And lilies, that you would it guess

To be a little wilderness.

ANDREW MARVELL (1621-1678)

Dan & I are enjoying many dinners and delightfully relaxing moments here. We will enjoy it while we have it.

Just to prove my point!

This first little old trailer Dan & I found while doing photographic research for the cottage style class that I teach. I did a section on alternative cottages - get aways. This one is tucked away in norther Michigan rather abandoned but had most likely been used for hunting. We were privilaged to be able to look in side, it was all original and with a little tlc could have been SO CUTE! ( I think could have even had a PINK stripe added!) He would have sold it to us for $500.
The next one you might remember from our January 2008 blog the cutest little double wide ever. It is in Arizona - facinating!
And the mod daisy version is from a Cath Kidston book and I dream of having this in the back yard as my office! How cute would that be?! I am not sure the city of East Grand Rapids would allow it...........
But one can dream :>

Another Little Pink (mobil!) House

I just wanted to share with you how one of the other dealer from Allegan travels! I have had this fascination with vintage travel trailers and fell in love with this PINK one!
Dan of course was not surprised, but could he take another pink house?

New Friends and Old "Things"

We are dragging a little bit this morning from a weekend at The Allegan Antique Market. We had such a great time and a successful show. Are heads are spinning from it all! We feel like we made some new friends and met many wonderful people. Joe and Sandy from Rhubarb Reign have been so encouraging and helpful to us. They are kindred spirits. Check out their blob as well, there is a link to it on the left side here. We had several customers who came back to find us again this month, one even brought us pictures of their porch with the furniture that they purchase from us in May - so fun! We just love seeing and interacting with everyone. The weather was perfect and we are started on our tans! One of our other dear friends who has great business savvy has encouraged us to tell a story
with our merchandise, so here are a few photos of our booth. We will be in the same space #34 again in June. See you there!
